Edgy Sports Lighting Techniques in Portrait Photography

Want to excel at moody sports portraiture? Kris will demonstrate his favorite lighting techniques to add ferocity to athletes. He will also demonstrate how you can achieve this same effect with studio lights and speedlights. Be prepared to jump in and photograph as well!
Bio: As a child and teen, Kris followed his father with a camera in hand, capturing moments during family vacations and special events — an early passion that shaped his future career. He earned a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration with a minor in Italian from Merrimack College, where he also studied photography. There, he developed a strong foundation in black-and-white film photography, learning to develop negatives and print images — skills that transitioned seamlessly into the digital age.Throughout his professional career, Kris has photographed countless weddings and portrait sessions, along with high-profile events including Frozen Fenway for the Boston Red Sox and the Boston 4th of July Spectacular featuring the Dropkick Murphys, Toby Keith, Rascal Flatts, Jennifer Hudson, and the Boston Pops Orchestra. His work has appeared on the cover of New England Bride and other local publications.“I have a unique style,” Kris explains. “I begin with traditional posing and then transition into journalistic and contemporary approaches, always studying lighting and expression to capture authentic, meaningful moments.”

What to Bring: Bring your camera and a godox trigger (if you have one) and things to take notes with.
